Good day from the nations capital. As usual our Ottawa and area group met on the second Saturday of the month. It was however a bit smaller than usual being August and holiday season, however it went very well and a good time was had by all. We also had some goodbye’s; Paddy Phalen is on his way back to his new Bride in Thailand at the end of the month and will be dearly missed, again. We all wished him well. We were also hoping to see Bill Raspberry who was in town but I guess he had family commitments on Saturday, maybe next time Bill. Our next Breaky will be at the same time and location, 08;45, at the Verona Pizza House on Cyrville Rd. Ottawa on 14 October 2017. There won’t be a September Breaky as we’ll all be in Tillsonburg for our annual re-union. As usual, if you happen to be in Ottawa, please drop in, your always welcome and we would love to share our time with you. Take care…. Nil Sine Labore.

Thanks Ken for directing me to this sight.
Bob D. in flaming BC, just smoke in Horsefly so far, I’m staying put, but have the fifth wheel loaded and hoked up to the truck, just in case they pull a Williams Lake on us.

I was trying to work with the reunion information earlier and is suddenly disappeared both from my screen and my inbox. Could you please forward same again and see if I have better luck this time? I was also interested in the part that said accommodations. If I can work out the details, hopefully I can attend. Thanks.

Good day from Sunny Ottawa, I’m sorry for the late report, I’ve been working on our annual re-union. being held this year in Tillsonburg, Ont. 8, 9, 10 September. Our RCASC Monthly Breaky group gathered once again on the second Saturday of the month, 10 June, 08;45, at the Verona Pizza House on Cyrville Rd. Ottawa for our monthly gathering. We had a great group of 18 people in attendance which included myself, Gerry & Barb Neville, Jim & Jane Smith, Earl Donaldson, Frank Pelletier, John Harper, Harry & Ellie Rideout, Bill Traynor, Bill Carvill & Bonnie Dannenberg, Pete & Adele Denault, Christa Lemarbre and two guests; not bad for a summer Breaky. As usual we had a very good time, good discussions and opinions on life, something I look forward to every month. As usual, if your in town, our next Breaky is on 12 August, your always invited, we would love to host you during your visit. Take care….. Nil Sine Labore.

Hi Ken. So nice to hear that Corps members still meet on a regular basis in beautiful Ottawa. Dawn & I love to visit Ottawa and will attempt to make next break on 12 August. Haven’t seen Bill Traynor since he replaced Keith Moody as CC in 4 Svc Bn in the early 70’s As you might already know, one of his clerks, Gary Stegman (aka Steggie, Da Gow or Gowie) passed away on 25 June from liver and throat cancer.

Gary has been my friend for almost “half a century” and I will miss him every day.

Retirement has not been kind to Gary. Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), resulting from a troubling tour of duty in Bosnia, pushed Gary into a dark place for years, resulting in the fatal deterioration of not only his health, but also his family unit.

Steggie is in a better place now and looking forward to seeing him again when I am eventually posted to the Advance Party.

Would love to see you and “the Gang” in Ottawa on 12 August. Will try to make it.

Nil Sine Labore and God bless.

Good day from Chilly Ottawa, I’m truly sorry for the late report. Our RCASC Breaky group gathered once again on the second Saturday of the month, 14 January, 08;45, at the Verona Pizza House on Cyrville Rd. Ottawa for our monthly gathering. We were a small but chatty group of 15 in attendance which included myself & wife Hilde, Gerry & Barb Neville, Conrad Hof, Jim & Jane Smith, Earl Donaldson, Frank Pelletier, John Harper, Bob & Monika Doran and David Heppner, Bill Traynor and Harry Rideout . Several regulars were missing but during the winter months, members have a tendency to hibernate, some even head for Florida. Those in attendance enjoyed the gathering with much spirited and informative discussions. Our next Breaky will be at the same time and location on 11 February 2017. If you happen to be in town, please drop in, your always welcome and we would love to share our time with you. Take care…. Nil Sine Labore.
